Alison has been leading assemblies in various schools (lower and primary) since 2001. The assemblies are usually based on a Bible story, and are linked into the current assembly theme for the school, so will complement the assemblies led by staff and other visitors. Examples are ‘Simplicity’ – ‘Jesus sends out his disciples’, ‘Honesty’ – ‘Zacchaeus’. Each assembly includes a simple Bible story retold using a variety of ways, a song and short prayer and a brief teaching element to help the children understand how to relate the story to their own lives. This last is usually presented as a conversation between Alison and ‘Lucy’ a puppet who takes the role of seven-year-old who gets into all sorts of muddles and trouble that needs sorting out.
